I can see your point on the almost fanatical approach to quality by Lange
Makes one feels special, both intellectually and spiritually, when one puts on the Datograph. Acrtually, I am writing this whilst still in Germany, and just having seen what Lange's expansion plans are, and seeing for myself how dedicated the folks are, both technical and commercial sides of the business.
Reference point on new Dato up/down...I know many, myself included, that already own the original, and can't help but feel the new either isn't revolutionaty enough...that I could accept, but a dogmatic approach insisting the Dato original is a better watch is clearly wrong in my eyes

Just because: Five Minutes with a Platinum Datograph
Been about six months now. Of all the watches I've had on my wrist, this is the one that has, by far, not only met expectations but exceeded them, and continues to do so. Used to hang around here quite a bit back in the Days When Dinosaurs Ruled The Earth...

The Platinum Dato is a feast for the senses. It is a watch to be " felt ", to fully appreciate it. Its flaws are its strenghts. A milestone in the category of fine Chronos. Best, Nicolas

A high level of design, execution and performance, all important for sure, but perfection soon gets boring. All these little quirks and idiosyncrasies are the ingredients of pieces that constitute the collective history in watchmaking. Congratulation Jack...

If I ever get what it needs (money - in this case) to buy a watch from the pinnacle of Haute Horlogerie , it will be a Lange. Congratulations!

. . . it is an enormously satisfying watch to wear --even after daily exposure for many months, I can definitely say it just doesn't get old. Every time I put it on there is a particular feeling of satisfaction --I don't know, maybe it has something to do...
