Early dial variation?
Looking to learn more from Lange scholars...
I was perusing eBay the other day and came across this first generation 1815 U/D (221.021). It has a Certificate of Origin from Lange so I will assume that is in fact genuine. One thing that caught my eye was that the font was different and the Auf/Ab subdial is "connected" compared to my 221.021.The serial number on the eBay listing is 114xxx so it's quite an early one compared to my 140xxx.
I know dial variations aren't uncommon in the early years of Lange, so I'm curious if anyone know approx. when Lange made the update to the dial on these references?

It might just be the photo,
but something looks wrong on this dial: why is there a small line above the 7? Also the power reserve sub dial doesn’t look authentic to me… But I could be wrong of course. Best, Emmanuel
Yeah...as you & others have observed, the dial is questionable.
I note from the listing that the movement no. is 49xx - so, if genuine, it's a very early piece, most-likely from the first year of this model. Lange's dials of that era were not as uniform or crispy machined as the ones today - and this one certainly has...

i would bet the certificate of origin is also a fake

I'm not in the market for one (already got mine back in 2018) but was just curious if this was an "official" change from Lange. Consensus seems like it's a poorly done redial. Stay vigilant out there is the lesson, it seems!

Definitely a non-genuine dial. Yes: we all need to do our due diligence.
Ouch... not a good look in my opinion.
Even the three little dots at the 12/3/6/9 positions are different, no expert here but when your gut says "thats odd" probably best to listen to it.

It looked quite off to me (and rough) but wasn't sure. Guess it's not an official change from Lange. Thanks!
