Odysseus Allocation Cancelled

May 07, 2022,22:30 PM

Was told my allocation was cancelled and just wanted to warn people here. I bought during peak COVID fear in March of 2020 - when the market was tanking and nobody knew there was going to be extensive stimulus.

You would think the Lords of Richemont would respect customers willing to spend during what looked like a recession.

Not so much. I did get a good deal on the Zeitwerk I bought, but again, peak COVID fear + this was back when they offered discounts.

A few of my friends with tons of spend have been treated similarly. Personally, I am sticking to independents going forward now, they simply treat you much better. For example Jochen Benzinger didn't charge me for a % of my watch until it arrived and told him I was happy with it. I didn't even realize he was doing that, but he was that awesome. I was also able to get answer directly from the Gronefeld brothers when I emailed a few questions over.

Not "mad" per se btw, just disappointed and I think if you're being told by a boutique that you'll get an allocation with X in spend...they could be wrong - whether they know it or not. Just want to give fellow enthusiasts a heads up.

Gronefeld is a great choice!

Many wonderful independents to choose from. You want a custom dial, sure. You want a seriously cool movement outside the norm, sure thing.

Congrats, same here. 👍

What is the reason for the cancellation?

It is quite surprising to hear such a situation.

Sorry to hear about your experience ...

I love many of their pieces (none of which, fortunately, happens to be a "hot" model), but reading on the fora about their bundling practices make me uneasy. Good luck!

Fully understand your dissapointment.

I heard from my AD that ALS has had serious of problems with employees being sick during the pandemic - and that these problems continue. Their productionrate has been lowered by between 30 and 50 percent. That might be the cause of your cancelled allocat...

Sorry to know that, m2. Your disappointment is fully understandable.

Did the ALS boutique give a reason for the cancellation of allocation? As it’s not a common practice once a client is approved on an allocation? Best, Henry

So sorry to hear that.

I understand your disappointment. Especially if you have been looking forward to it for so long. There are still so many other great watches out there. Feeling you are being treated with respect is a huge part of the equation. This is probably easier in t...

I agree, if they offered you one a delay should have been the move......

Did you do anything to upset ALS? It's seems odd and unprofessional that they would just kick you off the list. On another note, I walked into both new AP and ALS boutiques in Aspen a few weeks ago. The sales rep at ALS could not have been nicer, the AP r...

Lange acts unacceptable…

…I am very very disappointed by them. My allocation for a Datograph Lumen was canceled like this and for the Odysseus, too. Both were confirmed and afterwards canceled - as I ordered at a dealer and not in the Boutique. Delay would have been acceptable - ...

They'll come crawling back once the economy shits the bed...

Sorry to hear about what happened but thanks for sharing, further confirmation of the dirty Richemont shenanigans. Fortunately indies are making great watches and still remember what it is to appreciate clients so many great opportunities.

Richemont brands keep finding new ways kick customers in the nuts for no reason it's absolutely beyond belief. Cancelling committed orders, limited edition vip orange straps, downgrading movements, customers really have no idea how, when, or where a Riche...

Breaking the promise

Your deal is called a bundle sale. ALS is not keeping up their words. So sorry to hear your story. Thanks for letting all of us know. I was offered a similar deal in 2020, they told me to buy a piece of none Boutique edition or limited edition watch, then...

To bad they treat customers like that .

I am not a fan of these ,,new,, allocation strategy from the these brands nowadays. Like you said focus on the indies 👊🏻🤗
