A new look...

Apr 04, 2018,20:25 PM

More and more, I felt like this particular watch would look really cool on a steel shark mesh bracelet. That's because of the semi-transparent dial:  Seeing gears, discs, and plates says "tool watch" (sort of) to me, and I kept having these "metal begets metal" thoughts when wearing it on its standard croc strap. Maybe I was also influenced by the fact that I don't have any other Langes on bracelets. In any case, as soon as I made this change, I was really surprised by how much I liked the new look. It will be a bit of a sacrifice -- the case and lugs will surely get (more) scratched -- but that's fine with me, and I actually think it'll look interesting if a few of the steel bracelet loops towards the center of the case eventually wear shallow grooves into the platinum. [Also, if you don't like this -- for example, if you think this watch looks much better on a croc strap -- please feel free to say that! Whenever I post a pic or opinion, I do so welcoming different perspectives, including totally opposing views.]

Ah, the dream of a sporty Lange watch

(I know it is hearsay but I don’t believe making a sports chic watch in the future should be ignored by the great house of Lange.) I like the look. I am very partial to mesh styles. Also I would love to see how your Lange would look on one of those Wellen...

Quite a few folks suggested the Dato-style "beads of rice" bracelet.

It would indeed be interesting to see it. I'm not a huge fan of the solid straight bar at the end of that bracelet, near the watch head, and the polished links may look too blingy for me. That still wouldn't stop me from trying it on, though.

I would love to see it if you get it!

I have failed in my attempt to get a Dato that comes with the Wellendorf bracelet. I was looking at a vintage dealer in Tokyo who sells vintage style SS Gay Freres bracelets and the pictures look nice. But it is the straight end styles too. I think I am o...

It looks terrific.

This is a look that only slowly grew on me. Way back when I thought Langes on bracelets looked too rich; and too different, I guess. Made for alligator. And I still object to RG and YG on a bracelet. But the platinum works-maybe because it's white. Steel ...

I can envision it.

Pretty sure it will look good.

What is most important is that you like it!

Also, you now are most certainly in possession of the only example of this wonderful piece on a steel mesh bracelet that we know of. Nothing wrong with example 1 of 1! And while it might be a more unusual strap/bracelet match with a Lange, at the end of t...

I think it looks really great and especially on this transparent model

I wish L&S would make a good bracelet for soem of their watches. The Zeitwerk would look superb on a bracelet I think. Marvelous watch you have. GEO

I like the combination.

I'm not sure this is the right bracelet though. You need something more refined. (Although I have no idea what that would be).

Thanks Jay. I'll keep an eye out for different bracelet types that might look good on this watch...

I just don't view this as a dress watch, so a fancier or blingy bracelet wouldn't feel quite right to me. A different bracelet that is consistent with the sort of "tool watch" or "steampunk" aesthetic could work though. I usually don't change strap colors...

I wish Lange never discontiuned their bracelets.

They are superb in every way and turns their dress lineup into sporty wearers!

I see the spring bar ends through the bracelet!

It would mildly annoy me, so maybe I could get used to - otherwise, grail watch for me. Is that nano on the background?

I know what you mean. For me, the springbar's joint being visible is in harmony with...

... the semi-transparent nature of the watch itself. We see some gears through the semi-transparent dial, so why not see some springbar through the semi-transparent bracelet? I actually prefer this to a bracelet that has solid bars across the ends. I'm un...
