Seiko will release an updated Alpinist line in January 2020

According to sources in Japan, Seiko is reviving the Alpinist line in January with 3 new watches.

The SBDC091 (green dial on brown strap) looks almost exactly the same as the last generation SARB017 except that it has a cyclops over the date calendar, the Prospex X logo on the dial, and the movement is upgraded from the Seiko cal. 6R15 with 50 hour autonomy to the cal. 6R35 which features a 70 autonomy.

Making their return are the black and white/cream dial variants.  The black dial version comes with a bracelet while the white/cream dial comes on a black strap.

These watches are closer in look now to the Alpinist watches from the late 1990s (SCVF line) that were powered by the cal. 4S15 (which Seiko now reserves for the Credor line).

Prices have gone up from the last generation of Seiko Alpinist (SARB line)

Photos are already posted online but I'm not sure if there is still a press embargo on them. If you peruse my post there may be a hint as to where you can find some nice official catalog shots ;-)

The other two as well ;-) [nt]

I think the black-dialed one is my favorite. I need to see real life photos to confirm.

I think they used the Blue Alpinist LE as a gauge for interest

as well as an informal question on their official IG account which model people wanted back. Most of the replies were for the Alpinist IIRC.
