Completely agree re the dial text

It’s the equivalent of writing “AUTOMATIC GEARBOX” all over the rear of your car. Completely unnecessary, a little bit in poor taste, frankly: the self-confident wearer has no need to state how his watch is wound.

I can almost forgive the explanation of the jumping date on the complete calendar, although that too is superfluous.

Aside from those, these are very attractive. But the text just makes it a no from me.

I like automatic watches to say that they are automatic.

Exception: Patek, which (a) uses few enough basic movements that you can tell from the hand layout and (b) has a tradition of not putting the wording on the dial. I also think it usually looks good and balances the dial. For most watches, it's consistent ...

My belief is that manufacturers spend very little time on graphic design elements like text...
