Not sure I understand your question

the 24hr is just printed on the dial, not moving at all. So you read the time from the normal hour hands and use the red hand like a GMT hand you have on your Rolex GMT.
So I guess the answer the 24hr ring is only for the 2nd timezone.

A shot of the Girard-Perregaux Dual Time in Steel, Ref 49544

Friends, a shot I took last September at the manufacture of the GP Dual Time in Steel, Ref. 49544. 40mm case in the 1966 steel case with dual time zone display and up/down pushers to set the second timezone. I know from previous posts that many of you qui...

I don't think the layout is due to the small(ish) movement, but rather a design choice. The 24 hour ring is not rotating, only the red arrow shows the second timezone, so they could have easily made the ring bigger. I think 40mm is a good case size, but I...
Thanks HS for your input

I think size-wise the case is good, 40 or 39 both works. The pushers are indeed a great idea and design for a dual time zone setting. The 24hrs ring is fixed.

No worries, it can be confusing by just the photo

what I meant about "not working" for the Home Zone, is that here it is not a true 24hr display. You can look at the 24hr ring but there is no indication if it is AM or PM, only for the second timezone it is real 24hr display.
I agree, the WW.TC is close to perfection

what I do like in the Dual Time zone is the pusher setting and the date. As mentioned above, as the 24hr ring is fixed, they could have easily made it bigger with no dependency on the movement size.
Very nice piece.

I like the way the second time zone is laid out.
Thanks, my friend.

possibly because you are at the Maldives and need to know the time in Moscow?
Traveller or caller GMT?

Are the pushers used to set the red, 24hr hand, or the silver hour hand? Thank you, and my apologies for bringing this thread back from 2017. 😁
