Even though I have seen big guys wearing small watches and they look manly and elegant still. For you, maybe we would up the bar to 35-37?

Just imagine all those rough guys (maybe our own grandpas) at the middle of the last century, and what did they wear?

To any of you who are over the fence, I encourage you to give it a try. You will not regret it. At the office, since I work for an official health program. BTW I disinfect my watch frequently, since it may be a fomite. We also wear surgical masks, googles...

I've found that when trying a smaller watch on for the first time it often looks too small. So I go look at it on my wrist in a mirror to see it as others will see it on me. I'm usually surprised that from this perspective they don't look too small at.
