CP+ 2019 Report
By: cshimokita : February 28th, 2019-04:20
On Thursday 28-Feb I ventured down to Minato Mirai Station in Yokohama for the recent edition of the Camera & Photo Imaging Show 2019. I always enjoy the exhibition and hubbub of vendors mixing with photo buffs... a little something for everyone. Firs...
Awesome report thanks for taking us along :D
By: Rogi : February 28th, 2019-04:42
Many thanks for the Nikon update, I feel a little sad they're throwing themselves behind the Z series, they should have just dispensed with all this adapter non sense and focused on making the 6 and 7 better and better. Time will tell, I feel these aren't...
I am not in deep enough to grasp Nikon's business plan ; )
By: cshimokita : February 28th, 2019-05:26
But it's clear that when the general public wants a camera, they want it to be small. I was also surprised at features that are being added (in general). The Fuji XT-30 will have 425 focus points for example and the Nikon Z series will get eye activated f...
Interesting,

who knows, not attracted to them myself but will be interesting to see how the market in general reacts to these offerings.... Filip

I guess my favorite part of your report will have to be the gal with the multi-color measuring tape.
;-) :-)
By: cshimokita : February 28th, 2019-13:50
There is a funny story with that model... at first she was 'very cool' and would not look up nor look at the photographers so I started to talk to her and got her laughing and she finally glanced up with a smile... I gave her a big thank you after a few p...
Leica has never had a presence at CP+
By: cshimokita : February 28th, 2019-05:31
Except through 3rd party lenses... e.g. Cosina-Voigtlander continue to bring out new M-mount lenses, as they also did last year at CP+. As mentioned elsewhere a new Q series seems to be in the offing. Casey

The Theta was fun...
By: cshimokita : February 28th, 2019-06:57
they way they had it set up, the device was attached to a tablet computer, so I just held the Theta in the air and took a (shaky) photo of the tablet... I did indeed handle the GR III, I am not really familiar with the GR Series so I mostly just talked to...
ZX1 looks interesting.
By: Brandon Skinner : February 28th, 2019-09:34
Wish the Q was 35mm, otherwise I might have owned one already. Thanks for the report!
thegrailwatch: I agree about the ZX1...
By: cshimokita : February 28th, 2019-13:56
my preference is 28 or 50... but I hear you. I have the Fuji X100T which is 23mm f/2 fixed lens (35mm FF equivalent). All photos in the report were taken with the Canon 5DII and 100mm f/2.8 Macro.
Thanks for the report!
By: J_Warden : February 28th, 2019-10:56
Hey Casey, that show looks like a lot of fun. My, that ZX1 looks like a very clean design, but maybe a little cold for my taste. I'd sure like to try one though. And the CV 75mm f1.5 sounds very interesting indeed! Best, Jeff
Thank you Jeff... I always enjoy the show...
By: cshimokita : February 28th, 2019-14:03
This year I really took my time walking around the floor and spent time in each (major) booth. Next year I might try to check each exhibit. I agree about the CV 75 and ZX1 although I also liked that Hassy with adapter. I was particularly satisfied with th...

Yes, I forgot to mention the portraits! The second lady (holding the camera) is a splendid portrait and you captured her at the perfect moment. Nice! Also I forgot to ask: Did you see film anywhere?
At least one attendee was shooting film ; )
By: cshimokita : February 28th, 2019-15:59
a Nikon F3 and what looked like a 28mm, but no actual film that I could see... Ilford had a good sized booth with various types paper displayed, both wet print and digital print... I didn't check for Ilford film. There were various booths with art print p...

is sublime . Now, it is entirely news to me that Hasselblad is supplying lenses to DJI for use with their drones. I think that is fantastic, their drones have in particular been consistently ranked among the best products in their respective categories. I...
Thanks Filip...

I would not have found the DJI booth except for talking to the guys at SilkyPix. I was talking about their Developer Studio (which I like) and just by chance I ask if Hassy was at the show because I couldn't find their booth... The rep at SilkyPix walked ...

I didn't stop by the booth, but the show catalog has the Lumix S1R (DC-S1RM-K) and Lumix S1 (DC-S1M-K) as new (March 2019). As well as three new lenses: Lumix S Pro 50mm f/1.4 and S Pro 70-200mm f/4 O.I.S. both certified by Leica, plus the Lumix S 24-105m...
