Ha! I think we share a similar dilemma…

The main reason for the Portofino was the rear seats (the Lusso is not my cup of tea) which my petite wife and 17 year old daughter fit reasonably.
If this is a simple upgrade from a 458 - do it!!! If it was simply a 458 to a 488 or an F8, it’s probably not the same. The Pista is just special and I bet you will get a great trade in for your 458…

Are there any owners of a Ferrari 488 pista on this board?
By: jp884 : August 4th, 2021-20:49
I'm contemplating getting one. My wife is not the biggest fan of Ferrari but I love them and well we only have one life to live right? Would like some honest opinions regarding this car. I don't like the flashy red but I love the Grigio. I'm thinking of t...
I have been at a track day with one of these

And I have to say: I could not imagine buying something like this for any other use than track... superb machine I am happier with 250-350 hp if the car is light enough It looks like I have not posted this one yet (I boosted the texture a little) ...
Considering this or the 812…

Overall, I’ve been extremely pleased with my first ownership experience with a Portofino (purchased last year), as it has been an upgrade vis-a-vis other luxury Marques in terms of service, maintenance, ownership experience. What has been surprising to me...
Pick one!

No that's an old one that's a 458,
By: jp884 : August 5th, 2021-17:17
Like I said I love the Grigio. The one I'm considering is a 488 Pista. My hesitation is it is a track focused car. Super light, super fast, super loud, with little to no insulation. Problem is I would be buying another 2 seater thus effectively leaving my...

I was going to trade in my Turbo S and GT3 RS for it.
By: jp884 : August 5th, 2021-17:31
But it would still be $200K on top of that for the Pista. I was one of those idiots that paid over MSRP for the GT3 RS so you have to factor in the loss there as well. Just don't know if the Pista is worth losing two great cars for. Several Ferrari friend...
You are reminding me of my friend Jonathan who traded

five watches and his 911 for a Blancpain TOURBILLON QUANTIÈME PERPÉTUEL CHRONOGRAPHE FLYBACK À RATTRAPANTE, as shown list price $250,000. It seemed like a good discount and a great deal at the time, but not long afterward he was very regretful. I can't sp...
Yea I think I might hold off.
By: jp884 : August 5th, 2021-18:14
I might be trading in high but I'm also buying high it's all a wash at this point. It was nice that this example only had 158 miles on it though.
Agreed. Keep the GT3RS, sell the Turbo...

And consider doing a 488 spider instead of the pista. Numbers make more sense that way and you check a pretty similar box to the pista
Whoa too much trade...
By: pfang56 : August 6th, 2021-04:39
Maybe in watch land - and perhaps I'm not totally precise here - it's like trading in a Zeitwerk, a Sapphire Datograph, adding cash, and getting an RM-11-03? I think the asking price for the Pista is way too much (and the trade in too little!). Your deale...
It’s just as stupid in the luxury car market as it is the watch market.
By: jp884 : August 6th, 2021-04:46
Which is why I’m going to follow my own advice and sit this one out like I have done on watches lately. I’ll let the pandemic run its course and when things float back down to reasonable prices I’ll just add it to the collection. That might be the smarter...
Smart move!
