JLC SIHH 2011: Master Compressor GMT Navy SEALs.

Jan 24, 2011,13:52 PM

Here is the new version of the Master Compressor NAVY SEALs Chronograph, first introduced in 2009, which sees a light evolution this year.

This is still a 46, 3 mm watch, with the Chronograph and the GMT function, but the changes are:

A small second subdial above 6 o'clock.

And a blackened version in titanium Grade 5, with DLC " Navy Grey " coating ( Limited to 500 pieces, while the RG ( 500 pieces ) and the titaninum ( 1500 pieces ) receive the small second subdial, too, instead of the working indicator of the former model.

Nothing more, nothing less.

Here are the pictures of the Titanium grade 5 " Navy Grey " DLC coating:

Best,

Nicolas.

I have mixed feelings about this revision. With the seconds subdial, we lose the "6" and perhaps the charm of the movement indicator. The yellow v. red details is a matter of personal choice, as well. I can't tell, but is the case side fully PVD'd under t...

It is a proto, Respo; and no doubt that JLC will improve it, if it has to be.

I must confess that I' more a fan of the first Opus. With the movement indicator, it had something special. Now, some will say, and they're true, that the small second is more functional than the movement indicator, and they're right. A matter of taste......

After I posted my response to your post...

...I thought that this is probably a prototype and not final, but you never know what design decisions may stick... Yes, the movement indicator is charming if not as fully functional as a seconds sub-dial. But really what does a subdial like that contribu...

don't get me wrong

First, this is one bad @ss watch that I would proudly wear. Having said that, I think they have gone too far, too much clutter. The simple statement is long gone. But, that of course is just me... --Sancerre

Well, it would have been different if the first one didn't exist.

But it exists... So, this new Opus let me perplex... Best, Nicolas.

Interesting...

Like Robert, I'd prefer to see matte hardware, and like sancerre, I also wish they kept the distinctive "movement operation indicator", but overall I'm digging the "Incursion Chrono" vibe. Not enough to deter me from making the AP ROO Diver my 2011-watch,...

Thanks for your input, Adam.

Aaah the famous ROO Diver! When will you get it? Best. Nicolas.

Who can say?

I recently took another detour on the way to the AP boutique by way of a Linde-Werdelin Oktopus in titanium with the hand-lacquered bezel. It should arrive on Monday or Tuesday, so figure that I've just added another couple of months on the ROO Diver coun...

I never warmed to the chronos in the NS line..

just not the same allure as the Alarms... guess the DLC treatment makes it pop... now..where is the black Incursions?

I'm more a fan of the Alarms too,

But the richness is in the diversity. I think it was an excellent idea to release a Diving Chrono in the NS Line. But another one? As forthe black Incursion, you should ask to Seth, I think he will have news soon. Best, Nicolas.

It does not

make my heart beat as much as my NSA, but maybe I am biased. Still a very nice watch. Best regards, George

We, Alarm fans are all biased, indeed. :) [nt]

No message body

Now there's a strange beast...

Looks like they got inspired from the incursion edition of the NSA, but without the upgrades on the Navy Seal Automatic? They probably should have replaced the old hands with the new ones and hopefully they have also upgraded with the "new" superluminova....

It is not that I don't like it, it is that I don't get it.

It may be the only watch in the JLC 2011 collection which makes me wonder if it was a good idea to release it. First, there was, 2 years ago, the NS Chrono. Now, this one, with thee small changes. I The first one was / is a cool watch, yet. Though, I have...

Personally I prefer the previous version. I find most interesting the working indicator that the small second subdial at 6. DLC is nice, fewer worries about scratches .. Anyway It is an amazing watch Cheers, Fernando

If we speak abouut " functionality " this one is superior, imo.

If we are on the charm " field ", I tend to agree with you. Best, Nicolas.

Looks very tough…

Unfortunately (or lucky) for me there are three things that not makes me crazy about this one. The chrono makes the dial a bit too busy for my taste. When you add even more details… Black coating – not my thing! Size – I am to “small” for this one. But I ...
