Zenith El Primero New Vintage - Revisiting an "old friend"

Dec 23, 2013,13:19 PM

Team,

For unknown reasons my SS version gets lots more of wrist time but I love this one very much.

I did a review of my "El Primero New Vintage Titanium" some time back. Click here to see .

Today, with all Christmas chores done, I decided to wear it and with a good late afternoon light I took some pictures.

Here they are:

1) Wrapped on a device. Should I do a "What is it?" and "Who designed this device?"

2) Attached on another device. "What is this?".

3) A B&W that is mandatory

3) An old wrist shot, just to show the amazing proportions of the case (Black titanium, if you ask)

This Zenith is, IMHO, one of the best designed and unusual watches that I own.

Should I spend the Christmas night with it? Decisions, decisions ...

Cheers,

Nilo

And that is a Philippe Starck lemon juicer in the first picture, right? Enjoy your black beauty on Christmas Eve!

Amazing ...

Anatol, Thank you very much and YES, it's a Philippe Starck lime/lemon juicer. Any idea about the other device? I have no clue. Cheers, Nilo

Nice watch

Beautiful watch. I'm a very close to pulling the trigger on the steel version.

Just a wild guess...

we are talking about unusually usual great piece from Zenith on Philippe Starck Lemon Squeezer? Love the photos Damjan Note to myself first read responses of other members then reply!!! :) So let's try second some kind of marine bell? Rashly Damjan

Well, the lemon juicer ...

Was easy. The bronze device is not a bell, since it does not have a clapper or a place to put one. Try again. Cheers, Nilo

Great watch

Looks like it has never been worn. Looks stunning after almost 5 years. I do have a thing about Zenith's PVD coated titanium cases though in that the PVD coating does wear off rather fast around the edges as it brushes against shirts sleeves. I wish they ...

Thank you ...

I'm glad that I live on a place and my business don't requires formal attire. I never consider that this helps to preserve my single black watch. About your question "Great designer but does he have to design everything?", I believe that the answer is "mo...

My favourite Zenith by far ....

That 40mm looks gorgeous on the black croc strap. Congratulations and welcome to the Type 20 Club! What an inspirational idea to change the strap. Might just have to do the same with mine! Merry Christmas, Dean

Turns the Type 20 Dressy ;)

Nice pictures, my friend. As for your question

The unknown reason why you more often wear the SS version...I had a feeling when I looked at the black titanium version... I wondered if I would not get rid of it too quickly... Black case, darkened open dial ,well... I didn't feel comfortable with that, ...

You are absolutely right but ...

It's a limited edition to 250 pieces. If I flipped this one it will be nearly impossible to acquire another. You know that I'm a very active flipper but this one will stay in the bank for more time. Cheers, Nilo

Like good red wine

It has to be kept and worn from time to time to appreciate. My SS NV69 was on black croc and I found it too dressy. Since it's strapped on a di modell rallye, I wear it more often. Sometimes I think of selling it. And then I consider: - what a difficulty ...

Thank you and I agree with all of your considerations ...

 By: nilomis : December 30th, 2013-02:40
Gargamel, For the Ti, I also consider that only 250 were made. Even considering that I'm a lost case of a "flipper", this one will stay ... forever. Cheers, Nilo

I .love it! Great pics ...

The overall design, combination, and execution are just phenomenal. And the skeleton dial adds lot of spices 😉 Laurent
