It's a beaut!

Asthetically speaking, couldn't the fabricator have, at least, chopped off the hands to fit within the chapter ring.

And one more thing I'll bet this watch comes with a Certificate - - a Certificate of Accomplishment, that is, having hit as many as seven franken steps to put this thing together.  Remember that old Johnny Cash song about the auto worker who took parts home to make a car? This guy must be his cousin.  blah, blah, blah - - - - - Robert

LOL, maybe this should be a weekly review of the fakes and frankens to be found. After suggesting this was not authentic, the seller responded politely; Hi, thanks for the information. I 100% believe this watch is correct. I have had the watch looked at b...

Alpha for the hour, feuille for the minute, and rusted for the seconds! Beware the appeal to authority! Should wager the dealer: if VC will issue a COA for the watch, you buy it. If not, then he pays you $1000! Bill

This Italian offering mimics a very desirable sub-seconds automatic of the early 1950s. The movement is the correct caliber 498, but the case number is entirely nonsensical. And, of course, there is the dial ;-)...

And here is something more subtle...

This is a very nice late 1940s steel watch that is complete except for one unusual problem... Note the position of the applied "dot" index at 9 o'clock. While the seller acknowledges the flaw, he insists it is the original dial. My experience is that such...

Watching another fraud unfold on fleabay....

Right now there is a fraud in progress on fleabay, featuring two VC timepieces! How do I know? Here is the recipe...two listings appear back-to-back from sellers with two different ID's and locations. Both listings are in the USA, both sellers have been i...
