This is probably a gray market watch

that means, as you seem to appreciate, it has not moved through normal Rolex channels. So this seller bought it from a Rolex dealer that had too many for its allocated area, came from outside the trading zone you are in, or for some other reason that does not fit Rolexes idea of the ideal world in which they determine price, repair, delivery, your income to wear their watch etc. yes I do not like Rolex because they have been the most agreesive I have seen in restricting fair trade. Omega has boutiques and ADs. The ADs will discount at least 10-15%. The best I can get from a boutique is 3-5 %. This is personal experience. I love Omega but they are hurting themselves with this double tier system (of course if they fix it, the consumer loses).  But the Omega AD offers a factory warranty because they are authorized sellers. So if your seller is not a Rolex AD, I really strongly suggest to you that you are not going to get the factory warranty.  What does this mean to you?  You get a great price but run the risk of not having a Rolex warranty paid and authorized repair. Do you buy the extended warranty at Home Depot?  I hope not. My calculation is that Rolex  quality will out weigh the possibility of the need for a repair under normal warranty period. But do not expect a non Rolex AD warranty repair to make it good enough to bail you out should a failure occur in any given warranty period. You just can't expect that xyz Seller is going to treat you well enough with their warranty service should Rolex tell you to get lost.  I hope this helps. Remember, this is no different than car sales. Whew, it's a swamp out there.

However, The issue for you to consider is that during the warrenty period should you need service will Rolex accept the watch under warranty if the the seller is not an authorized dealer. That is the simple risk. I think that today the warranty card is no...

Where did you buy it from? Mine is from a seller in Italy. I bought a jlc from him already and I had to take it to a jlc boutique in London and feared a little that the warranty does not work though...but it did work thanksfully.
