I would be very curious to know upon what criterias these rankings

Are made... If it is the cost of the watch, the innovation, the horological content, the bienfacture, or just the production numbers. Seeing, for example, GP in rank 34 when I read that Breitling is Nr 6 just convinced me that this ranking is pure bu....i...

Am with Nicolas on this one pure Garbage

this chart is silly what is the ranking for ? anyway its funny to read this garbage sometimes specially xmas

There are a few factors that...

aren't traditionally judged as relevant, such as resale value, customer service...etc. Still an interesting reference IMHO. Merry Xmas!

Rubbish! Girard Perregaux on 34th ranking ... outrages!

I have seen this "ranking" also somewhere before and to me this has been done by somebody who has no clue about watches. Horrible nonesense! Moritz

I used to think that ...

a forced ranking of the universities in the world is so meaningless and therefore useless. Now this chart beats it hands down. Rolex gets a rating of '6' in taste while Lange & Sohne gets a '4'. Give me a break! Do participants of the survey know watches ...

Taste is subjective³ anyway...

It always irritates the hell out of me when a journalist proposes one is more beautiful than the other, be it watches, cars, etc. I'll be the judge of that, thank you very much.

I won't contest that....

By: samwan : December 26th, 2011-17:53
as I agree that 'taste' is largely subjective, as are factors listed on the chart like 'creativity' and 'design'. However, for objects of art and beauty, there must be some common, perhaps universal standards such as those used in international beauty pag...

I'm an average man...

By: Brava : December 27th, 2011-15:15
With average taste. My collection includes Blancpain Flyback, GO Senator Navigator, Nomos Tangomat, Omega Co-Axial DeVille and sundry vintages such as an Universal Polerouter. I have these watch because I like them, they are my taste, they are interesting...

Appreciate your elaboration Brava

At the end of the day, there isn't a huge gap between our opinions - while we may see the definition of 'taste' and how it is measured differently, we both feel the list is a bit of nonsense , which appears to be the view of an overwhelming majority in th...

Thank you

Hi, Thank you for your translation. Giving marks to brands on such criteria needs either a massive marketing study (on 1000 and more people) or a large and deep knowledge of the wach industry and market. Of course all that should be done for each and indi...

this chart does not represent the actual value of all the brands

I'll try my best to translate the individual column. My Mandarin is rusty, anyone who has the better knowledge please correct me if I am wrong. I will go from Left to Right 1) Total score from 1-6 2) Design and technologies 3) Reputation/brand awareness 4...

On second look, I tend to agree with some of the rankings.

By: jimjenkins : December 26th, 2011-22:04
After getting the translations for the column headings, I think this is a very useful ranking. For watch enthusiasts, definitely there is room for debate. But for the general population this will be a great asset. They can shop for complication, for resal...

See the link below for the original ranking source, FYI

The link shows the scans of the original German Article re. 2011 rankings, which tells a slightly different story. http://forums.watchuseek.com/f20/watch-ranking-2011-german-magazine-article-517476.html

Glad to know that Patek brand is still at the top

But I don't really take notice of the ranking. I buy watches that sings to me. Thanks for sharing the post.
