It won't move anymore

And I have never had it serviced, but it's from 2013. And if I recall correctly Patek says every 5 years?

Why?! Why did you get stuck you stupid date wheel?!!

This is one of my summer watches. I left in the vault the whole winter in order to enjoy it extra-much this summer... and now I have to bring it to the AD. And it will probably be gone until....the end of times? 😢 ...

that would truly irritate me [nt]

You should see my face 😡 [nt]

Did you regularly wind it during winter?

 By: Alkiro1 : July 27th, 2017-08:22
Best wishes Alkiro

Define regularly

 By: Arie - Mr Orange : July 27th, 2017-08:29
Did wind it every now and then when I was in the vault. But that is not a necessity is it (21th century oils etc)?

Nah

 By: Arie - Mr Orange : July 27th, 2017-08:39
That's really not necessary. Modern oils don't dry up that fast.

Oh lord everybody says something different

 By: Arie - Mr Orange : July 27th, 2017-08:56
So what we need is watch winders that wind one rotation cycle every two weeks?

Hehehehehehe

😁

Joking aside, I hope there's nothing serious. But I really think you should wind it regularly if you plan to let it or another one in a safe for several months. Best wishes Alkiro

LOL 😁 Same for me 😉

Setting the date within hours each way of midnight

 By: watch-er : July 27th, 2017-08:32
It is critical to advance these watches to noon before setting the date. Most people forget, I forget. But the most common cause of date misalignment is setting the date while the date gear is engaged between 10PM and 2 AM.

In the four years I have had this watch

that date wheel has always behaved a bit funny when setting it with the pusher. The last 2 years I have always had to forward the hour hand to get it (date wheel) in the right position as it has always got a bit stuck... This time it won't move anymore. S...

That's not good news indeed

By: Mark in Paris : July 27th, 2017-09:18
What I would suggest is trying to make it pass manually so you at least can enjoy it during your holidays (if it is everyday of course it is not good). Maybe making it work for a a few days may help the oil back in place again? However, I don't know when ...

Officially, they say 3 to 5 years

By: Mark in Paris : July 27th, 2017-10:18
However, I personally wouldn't find 4 years normal for such a problem. A watchmaker can certainly see something else but otherwise I would try to ask for a free fix (if done by local watchmaker especially). The problem is that they won't open a 4 year old...

I'll try to make it up tomorrow [nt]

 By: Arie - Mr Orange : July 27th, 2017-16:04

In all seriousness, this is not good.

Take it to the Boutique and don't try to play around yourself. Should not happen.

I'd bet you did absolutely nothing wrong. I've had several 5980s (sadly) experience the same problem. They were are very early pieces and the problems were chalked up to "early hiccups"

 By: 5980 : July 27th, 2017-10:11
But it happens. Extraordinarily frustrating. All you can do is send to Geneva and insist on approval right once diagnosis is made / remedy is proposed. Good luck

Will Patek offer a definite solution?

 By: Arie - Mr Orange : July 27th, 2017-14:04
Or should we simply not touch the date anymore?

Shake it madly? [nt]

annoying when these things happen...

but could be a whole lot worse! At least not a water leak. I am sure a service will have it taken easily care of but understand it is a piece one would want ready to wear during the summer.... On a sidenote, this is a piece that haunts me. Really trying t...

 By: christianch : July 27th, 2017-17:14
such a disappointing issue that seems recurring in many nautilus...

Arie, you wrote that the date wheel got "stucked"

 By: cayenne1200 : July 28th, 2017-04:29
Do you mean the wheel is stuck/fixed and doesn't move any more even if you manually put the hands to the next day? Or does it jump to the next number but just stucks between two numbers?

Doesn't move at all

 By: Arie - Mr Orange : July 28th, 2017-04:49
Whatever you do
