So after owning this watch for a few weeks (my first JLC) I can honestly say this.... JLC is just ok when compared to other brands I owned. The rotor on this watch is very loud, it is very audible when moving your wrist. The lume on this particular model ... 

Sorry to hear your impressions are less than stellar. There's a lot of competition for similar designs at this price point. Thank you for your frank and honest thoughts on this piece.

I will wear this watch in my rotation for a while as I am not ready to take a huge loss. I wonder if I am the only owner of this model that sees these things. Its very hard when I have owned different models across different brands and JLC being so highly... 

Re: the strap, you might want to check out this review, it talks about how the watch/strap performs in the water: https: I'd also suggest that you email the JLC concierge and get the official word on the strap. In my experience they are very knowledgeable... 

I contacted JLC to find out. They told me the strap has a coating and you swim in it. I also read a ton of reviews that I found. These are all my observations. I didn't really mess with the crown too much at the AD so I had no way of knowing. These are al... 

I had a similar experience with the Omega Speedmaster. Small crown, close to the case. I find it a bit difficult to pull out the crown and wind the watch. A bit more annoying since it's a manual wind But you find ways to work around these little things if... 

With my speedmaster I also noticed it but on this particular watch I simply cant grab it.

As for the crown, two things. I didn't have issues pulling it, but yes, I noticed that the minute hand could move, when pushing the crown. This is not the only JLC which does that. Amvox II, and even the Reverso Septantième. As for the Lume, it should be ...

But regarding the move of the minute hand when you push your crown, I have the same "problem" with my Royal Oak Fondation 15100ST. The AP 2225 caliber in this watch is based on the JLC 889. So I suppose it is a JLC specific "problem" as all my other watch... 

is seen elsewhere too, that the minute jumps a bit after pushing the crown back in. One trick that works often: When you set the time, move the minute hand past the time you want to set, then move it backwards to the exact time and then push the crown in....

is a pain to pull out to set the time unless I have long nails. The rotor of the cal. 898/1 in the TT Geophysic 1958 is very noisy as well due to the ceramic ball bearings which probably are used in your watch's movement, too. These are JLC "features"

It's a good brand per se but some of these details are just mind boggling. I'm guessing they are ceramic ball bearings but I don't see how they make anything better. People always say Rolex is this and that but from personal experience they do everything ... 

I also read that the lume is 'adequate but no Seiko diver'. It seems like Hodinkee had a different opinion, although they seem to be in the minority.

Hodinkee faked that lume shot or they said it was a pre release model and maybe JLC went cheap with the lume after. The good news is my watch is very accurate. Since Rolex updated their specs to be +2/-2 a day this JLC is within that range.

Have you tried to grab the crown \'horizontally\', i.e. on same level as the crown and pushers? This works on my TTDS Alarm. Regarding the setting: I have the sibling calibers in my AMVOX 2 & 7. Once you set the minute hand and then move the crown a tiny ... 

Ya I have and cant get it. I will try these tips next time I set the watch. For now I really am enjoying wearing it, been running the chrono all day, hopefully not wearing the parts.

I got fed up with not being able to pull the crown out and set the time and sold the watch! Maybe in the future I wil consider JLC again but I was not blown away by their quality.

They are good watches but you need to check them out before hand. I like Rolex quality and robustness much better. They have worked out the day to day kinks.
