I think its fantastic, particularly for LF as it brings the brand out of the comfort zone of classical pieces...

For LF, a brand with very classical (if not to say cuatious) designs this collaboration could be a starting point to new direction. My feeling is that they test the waters with this piece. Given reactions at the auction (and during the previews before) I could imagine that LF will branch out into more avant-garde conceptions.

This is something I would very much look forward to. LF has consistently demonstrated a remarkable sense for propoartions and shapes, and I for one would look forward seeing this applied to more daring watches.

One word to the case (for the press release): '... such  a  design demanded  a  special  material. For  that  we  turned  to  the  Cendres+MΓ©taux  company  in  Biel. The  case  was  shaped  from  an  exclusive  alloy  called ARPAL+,  specifically  developed  for  this unique  watch. ARPAL+ consists  of  75%  precious  metals  and  resists  wear  and  scratches  better than  white  gold  or  steel.  Its  colour  never  fades,  nor  does it  oxidise.'

Cendres+MΓ©taux is an amazingly interested supplier who goes mostly unnoticed. Undeservedly so. I have recently visited them and can tell you - they can do everything from having their own foundry, large-scal parts production up to an entire in-house movement. Along the way a couply of myths ('in-house', 'hand-engraved'...) are also shattered.

Cheers,
Magnus

Too much Urwerk and too little Ferrier

(at least that\'s my first reaction seeing it) (design wise) ...

Here it is!

Well, at first sight... same opinion than you Arie πŸ˜• We had too many expectations of this collaboration in my opinion. Best wishes Alkiro

Probably

I was hoping of some sort of hybrid Ferrier and Urwerk. But don't ask me how it looked in my mind because I didn't know (either)... I was probably hoping on a miracle design.

A LF Galet / Galet square case with the wandering hours complication of Urwerk would have been more appropriate in my opinion.

Well, something like that LOL 😁😁😁 Best wishes Alkiro ...

you're lol

Nonetheless will be interesting to see the rest of the watch...

Same here , but still a amazing watch imho

If my budget was unlimited i would go for it .

Yes

& yes But then again; if budget was unlimited....what wouldn't we go for?!? πŸ˜‰πŸ˜œπŸ˜‰

Very cool

The watch looks really cool. And a great combination of very opposing brands.

Reminds me of the early Urwerk pieces.

I agree a LF star wheel would been spectacular.

... is there any LF at all?

 By: hewitgar : July 12th, 2017-17:47
im keen to understand what there is, that is...

Spot on Arie

When they first announced, I wasn't sure how LF was really going to insert themselves in a very strong urwerk case design.

I don't know at first glance my attention is grabbed

There is more sensuality and refinement here than any Urwerk I've seen or tried. Looking forward to a look under the hood and learning some more. Very avant garde yet refined. Might be something special here.

Special it is without a doubt [nt]

I like the watch a lot.

Firstly I think that a collaboration between Urkwerk and LF is a huge challenge because the two brands, in my opinion, are extremely different. However I think that the two philosophies are well balanced in the watch: somebody claims that the design is to...

That is true

 By: Arie - Mr Orange : July 13th, 2017-01:43
It does look more 'light' indeed.

I see it as a great collaboration...

 By: andrewluff : July 13th, 2017-01:37
and I love it! Its a shame (not for charity) that it will go for a high price as would love to own it. Cheers Andrew

I'm with you there [nt]

If it was a standard product I would think about a purchase.

 By: Freccero : July 13th, 2017-02:03
It is stunning, best piece at Only Watch together with the Journe and Gautier. Best.

I like this collaboration!

 By: nafetS : July 13th, 2017-06:01
I wouldn't see it as a 50/50 shared project, but rather as LF refining an Urwerk watch. And it has worked for me. While I liked the overall idea of Urwerk, the design of their watches was never appealing to me. The influence of LF kept the technological e...

Perhaps not an entirely even design ratio.

 By: 2muchtimeonmyhands : July 13th, 2017-17:00
However I can resolutely say thats its one of my favourite watch designs. Just incredible

It is starting to grow on me more and more!

 By: Arie - Mr Orange : July 13th, 2017-23:50
If I had F-you money I'd buy it at that auction. Hopefully Laurent Ferrier and Urwerk will do more collaborative work in the future.

Min

 By: cj.cooper : July 14th, 2017-00:29
Well, at least they decided to keep the 'min' next to the 30 there.... I mean without it, how would you know what some numbers from 0 to 60 would represent on a watch after all πŸ˜‰

Exactly... [nt]

 By: foversta : July 14th, 2017-14:56

I saw the case when I was with Urwerk two weeks ago

 By: foversta : July 14th, 2017-14:59
The watch is large, impressive but we can feel the LF influence with the overall fluidity. It is a great outcome because the Urwerk traditional design is revisited with elegance and style. A superb achievement. Fx
