As some people know I'm quite taken with specialist makers. I have long been a fan of the greatly underappreciated Aaron Becsei. In fact I bought a watch for my 60th birthday, many, many years ago. Over the years it has given me great pleasure: it's unique design, incredible workmanship and exclusivity ( I have never seen another on somebody's wrist ). Personally I find it difficult to grasp the thrill of owning a very expensive, supposedly rare and special piece,,,,and then show pictures of it with two or more IDENTICAL pieces. Exclusivity, rarity????
Anyway, back to the matter at hand, about three and a half years ago I started chatting to Aaron about a possible new piece. We threw ideas back and forth until he produced a stunning rendering. As you all know I'm a terrible tart,,,and certainlty cannot resist temptation.......better and cheaper than: misstresses, yachts, gambling etc dontcha think?
At the GTG last Thursday Aaron came and handed it to me,,,,in front of witnesses, as it were!
And then there was the presentation. I have never seen anything quite like it before. A beautifully crafted pigskin folio case contained: the exquisite box, warranty/certificate booklet, a pigskin carrying case, and most wonderfully a booklet with a pictorial history of the watch's production.
Thank you Aaron......I feel honoured!!
