... i was talking a lot with Mathias Buttet about the Magic Gold and he explained me almost anything.
Pure Gold is melting at 1064 Degree Celsius. Boron carbide, the second part in the Magic Gold, is melting at 2350 Degree Celsius.
So itยด s possible to seperate the two materials by melting down the Magic Gold.
But you need to heat up the Magic Gold to more than 1768 Degree Celsius first (in vacuum) because the third part in the Magic Gold is Platinum and this is
melting at this temperature. So you will get in a first step an Gold/Plantium alloy separated from the Boron carbide. In a second step you would have to
separate the Gold from the Platinum heating up the alloy to 1064 Degree Celsius.
So the Magic Gold is 100% recyclable.
Best regards,
Sascha

I heard there was some heated discussion (pun intended) with the materials standards legal people because for a gold alloy to be hallmarked 18K or Au750, the gold must be recoverable. This Magic gold is a fused material with ceramic that cannot be recover...

I read that the materials melted down would separate. Can anyone from Hublot verify this?

Hublot is a colorful brand in the figurative sense, and its watches appear well matched to color in the literal sense. Though I don't love colored gold, I do love Magic Gold because - at least to my eye - it reads as aged bronze, not yellow gold. Add the ...
