Horological Meandering

Hello Purists. I would like your opinion. All things considered I would like to hear opinions as to which of the three watches you would get if you could only get one. Thank you in advance for your feedback! ALS 1815 Chrono (boutique version) FP Journe Ca...  

A fair balance of dress and sport and various metals. In total a collection that is somewhat commensurate for my lifestyle.

The watch and it's finishing are simply sublime and out of this world (especially for a 'factory' watch).

The quality and movement is one of the best if there and it really works with jeans or formal. Rgds Raymond ...  

But the 1815 chronograph is on another horological planet. That movement. Those pushers. The heft. For me top ten of all watches of all times. Sorry for being selfish and subjective. ...  

If you want a chronograph, buy Lange and if you want to get a WT. buy Patek. It's difficult to compare apples with oranges. Best, Kari

...but with a twist: even though I haven't seen the boutique edition in person, in photos there just seems to be a sameness or flatness because of so much blue. So perhaps I'd go with a different metal...subject to change of course until/if I get the chan... 

I think you should go for the Lange. The movement is sublime. The Patek has a gorgeous dial but the movement cannot compare to the Lange's superior finishing. The FP Journe would only compete in terms or rarity but the servicing cost of a FPJ is a lot hig... 

Not my favourite Journe so it would have to be the Lange ...

Put the Datrograph first generation, and I would tell you Dato.

But personally I would choose the ruthenium calendrier first, then the 1815 followed by the 5230G. Now this is somewhat a reflection of what would add the most to my little box of watches and what I would prefer to wear in my daily life. These are all spe...

I know there is a lot of love here for the PP worldimers and aesthetically it is hard to argue; but the wt module is a total antique and pressing the pusher feels like one is operating and old tractor. Totally unacceptable in my opinion even for a watch a... 

But with a twist, I'd prefer the 1st gen. This edition is aesthetically pleasing but leaves me a bit cold. The first gen however has more warmth and charm, IMHO

I don't like the new case on the 5230, I think it's become more formal. The ALS without doubt would be my choice for the most versatile of the three. And the ALS Chrono is after all one of THE chronos. Like others have suggested perhaps the newer black di... 

SPSEMOLA, As you asked for a personal opinion... I would get the A.Lange & Soehn chronograph (so pretty) and this L.U.C world timer watch with a date display (so pretty). What is the point of a world travel watch without a date across International Da...

In that case I would opt for 5170P personally

There are other Journes and Pateks that would be more of a comparison. If you were to put a centigraph and 5170 and maybe a vc chrono, my choiice would be different.

I was facing a similar situation (for a 1st gen 1815), and went as per my advice. No regrets at all! ...

Based on movement, no competition.

I would choose this watch in this selection. Then the WT, then the Journe. But you can't be wrong with any. Think about the answers to these questions: which complication speaks the most to you? which type of movement do you prefer? Handwind or automatic?... 

It would be the Lange, then the FPJ and last the PP. Why, the Lange movement is stunning, the FPJ is also beautiful and love the small details and finish... finally the Patek, nothing against it but not a rare watch. But it depends which one makes you hea... 

... between the FPJ and the Lange! I dislike the Patek, so that'd be a distant third for me. I have the Octa Calendrier Ruthenium and really, really love it. I wore it today, in fact (below). It's a beautiful watch to look at. Most people haven't had mech...  

The 1815 chrono is an awesome watch, you won't regret that choice. I happen to own both the original Datograph and 1815 Chrono and have to say that i prefer the 1815 Chrono over the Dato. It's much more comfortable to wear so you shouldn't ever feel like ...
