Not quite...
A simple, elegant dial. No dial openings - they're often not great when it's a tourbillon and they're just naff when it's a regular escapement. Maybe a sub-second at 6 o'clock. No writing or plaque needed except the name of the manufacturer.
A steel case. Smooth. Classical.
Then you turn it over and there is this cool movement visible through the display back. Ooh, I have an idea - how about a hinged solid case back?

I think the newest GP chronos hold up well in comparison. However, I agree with you that the chronographs GP made in their co-branding days with Ferrari, and for a handful of years after,
are magnificent-some of the best chronographs made by anyone. As evidenced by this Scuderia Ferrari and others posted here as well.
Well, the GP 1966 Chrono is quite nice, the one with the blue or silver dial ( WG ).

I am pretty sure I have seen one on Ebay in the past year.
My memory is that GP did limited numbers in every metal.
