I hope you are able to see past the (valid) concerns you raised, and enjoy your Blancpain to the fullest.
While I can’t speak for the “crack” without seeing it up close, I think the variation in the alarm should be considered a characteristics of a mechanical watch and not a flaw or limitation.

on what seems a PhD in algebraic geometry (Hodge theory perhaps? As you certainly know, lots of interesting work is currently being done there!). It's really rare --- but equally great --- to find mathematicians who love (and love to wear) quality watches...
Using Hodge theory to solve algebraic geometry problems is my main research interest!

Yes, I am planning to send it to Blancpain for the adjustment at the end of the warranty. I just cannot justify leaving it for couple months merely for those minor issues right now.
