The Lamborghini Huracan genuinely drives like a special machine (even though it is admittedly 20% an Audi R8). There's so much more emotion than the Porsche. And the Porsche is a technically brilliant car. Just brilliant. But the Lamborghini for only a $50K more premium than a Porsche GT4 RS? Hmm... I'm starting to think the Lambo is a better deal. The beauty here is that value is in the eye of the beholder. Not everyone wants a Lamborghini. Lamborghini owners are often weird. Edgier. And with a whiff of underdog. Gentlemen drive Ferrari and Aston Martins as those brands have pedigree. Lamborghini is a brand most people have never heard of. Ferrari and Aston Martin are brands people have heard of. Everyone also wants a Porsche, Porsche is mainstream. Fewer people want a Lamborghini. But me? I want mid-engine, I want emotional sounding engine intake and exhaust, I want good steering (the Porsche steering is better than the Lamborghini steering and the Audi R8 steering is pretty mediocre), good brakes, and excellent reliability (the Lamborghini is the only exotic sports car that's actually reliable, Ferraris aren't great, McLarens are awful, and Aston Martins aren't that sporty and reliability is hit or miss). The Corvette is really starting to look amazing right now. Great looks, should be reasonably reliable, supposedly very good handling, and a great sound. Gearing is a bit unusual - muscle car gearing ratios on some Corvette models. Maybe the Corvette is the way to go! I don't see electric sports cars to be great. Sports cars really need to be right around that 3200 pound marker or around 1500 kg. This means that batteries in sports cars will need to have a special lightweight chemistry (more energy dense) and packaging in order for it to work. And also, sports cars need to be RWD... And from what I've seen on the track, those Model 3 Performance cars (which are AWD) really are quite something! They're modified (better aero and brake cooling), but minimal modifications keep those cars in line with some darn good Porsche cars.
