I picked up my 116710BLNR in 2013 and it is by far the watch I wear the most. Movement is rock solid and (seemingly) very reliable, good looks and construction, and a very useful complication - it's just a very solid watch and not exorbitantly priced. I would think that for 'normal' people it could well serve as a single 'luxury' watch.
I would add though that it is a very modern look, with the enlarged font on the bezel, more 'maxi-style' hands/indices, PCL, and wider lugs. For sure I can see how many Rolex fans find 6542/1675 more charming.
I actually like pretty much all the current GMT offerings (and definitely some of the vintage ones!) I'm not 100% convinced with the YG/green dial version, and the value proposition definitely does come into play when talking about all the precious metal variants.
