Wow! The dial "pops"
Black dials are really tricky. Too often they can be flat and disappointing. Your pictures, in different angles and lighting, really show the perfect depth and "pop" of this dial. I also love the stepped bezel!

Apart from the functional perfection from its design, it is amazing how the classy dial stands out on nearly every background...
Sadly it was introduced around 2000 which was the end of the golden age
Hope Mr. JCB can turn Zenith around and make another golden age

I missed out acquiring this piece, hope JCB can bring back a similar piece like this.
There may be still some pre-owned offers in the market
But I am grateful to find and buy a LNIB condition at a reasonable price. The strap and the buckle here are aftermarket as I changed the original bracelet

I think this is the only watch

The white dial offers quite a different feel
More suitable for a formal occasion. When I bought this watch, I was actually fortunate enough to have a white dial to choose from, but I was attracted by the black dial much more

My pictures actually don't do the dial justice
The black in main dial is glossy and rich while the subdials are metallic sunburst under appropriate light. Really a joy to look at every time
The attention to details are marvellous
The triple date windows blend with the dial so nicely
It really makes you wonder

I always appreciate a beautiful dial that is accentuated by the anti-reflective coating. IMO, both Zenith and Breitling do it best!
and they have been proponents of anti reflection coating for a long time.
By coincidence I also have a Breitling with similar age
It also shows kind of "rainbow" reflection at certain angle. Do you think it is caused by anti reflection coating used at that time? ...
