NEWS: Zenith unveils 2 new Cal. 5011 Pilot Type 20 Watches: Tribute to Louis Blériot & Skeleton!

Zenith previewed these two impressive timepieces to the press already during BaselWorld 2015, but only now we can publish them: The Zenith Pilot Type 20 Tribute to Louis Blériot and the Pilot Type 20 Skeleton . Both are extraordinary pieces demonstrating Zenith's immense artisanal skill on the best possible platform: The Cal. 5011 hand wound movement:

The Zenith Pilot Type 20 Tribute to Louis Blériot features a meteorite dial and a wonderful Cal. 5011 pocket watch movement entirely hand-engraved with motifs celebrating Luois Blériot's pioneering landmark exploit in aviation, his journey across the English Channel. The case is a 60mm full sapphire case with white gold bezel, lugs and crown.

The Pilot Type 20 Skeleton showcases a Cal. 5011 version with over 200h of hand-skeletonisation applied. A sapphire disk with transferred arabic numerals as well as power reserve and seconds scale. The case is again crafted from 60mm sapphire, but this time with a blue enamelled white gold bezel, entirely hand-engraved. Lugs and crown are also made from white gold, with the former hand engraved.

You have the Rolling Stone special editions on the one hand and these overly baroque pseudo pilot watches on the other. And in the middle some nice but also boring pieces. Who exactly is Zenith targeting at?
