I agree the difference is noticeable but unrealised consciously
The shiny external links version is BOLD whereas the brushed external version is demure.
Also, it seems instinctive that more shiny surface area on the outside gather more scratches but I have no experimental data to make a firm conclusion.

'bold' vs. 'demure', nice way to sum it up! As for the scratch-proneness, it could be the other way round as well..

Difficult to feel with pictures-only
but I imagine it brings something very different and I think I would prefer the inner polished and outer brushed surfaces. Thanks for underlining this element, I would never have noticed it. Cheers, Mark
