I occassionaly accept repair or restoration pieces as long as they are "Interesting", this Breguet certainly meets that requirement. This piece was made Ca. 1830.
The movement is Breguet's layout with two going barrels.
View of the balance and escapement
Detail of the escape wheel and the spring detent.
Breguet employed a very neat spring to block the 4th wheel when service was needed.
The spring is retracted by one of the three screws that hold the escapement platform to the main plate, one of the screws has a long tapered tip which when screwed down
withdraws the spring away from the wheel.
To block the 4th wheel the spring engages a tooth in the 4th wheel when the screw is almost fully retracted. This is a very useful device.
Something I always look for and enjoy finding is a signature on the mainspring, this was often done by the man did the final assembly and sometimes at a later service date. This time the same man signed both of the springs twice, once in 1930 and again in 1957.
