...the position of the date is.... mh...suboptimal. The watch is perfect but the movement is to small for case size and this is obvious because of date position.

This is one of the reasons why I picked the generation 2 over the generation 3. The gen. 3 dial looks empty and the bracelet is not as wide with the Maltese Cross less pronounced than the gen. 2

Obviously, the gen. 3 has the in-house movement - but in the end I am wearing the entire watch and not the movement, so therefore I chose the gen. 2.

A movement being too small for the case is a common problem across the entire watch industry...

I have never felt that the position of the date is too far into the dial, even though objectively you are making a correct point.

I like the date at that position. If it was at 3 then that numeral would be omitted which would not look good to me. If it is the few mm you want it pushed out toward the periphery then that is something that could help. Or they could have redesign the ho...
