During that time, the name should have been "Vacheron & Constantin". So I would say the dial has been redone. You can provide the case and movement serial numbers to the VC Concierge (available through VC's North American website) and he can confirm that ...
I second Dan's recommendation
to take the case and movement serial numbers to VC and have them confirm that they were born together. I also agree that the dial has been reprinted/refinished. Bill

I'm worry about stainless steel model. The case could be after market replacement because the original gold case has been melt down and convert to cash. Best Tyler
