No, definetly not only just another model this Vacheron Constantin Métiers d'Art Villes Lumières. The case size of 40 mm seems to be normal for nowadays dress watches but in this case, for the purpose to display some contemporary art, probably appropriate...

Ok, I was wrong, the index ring is not new for V&C. See ref 6751 dress watch for example, 32 mm in diameter and stunning 6 mm including the crystal - another early space age - (dipicting just only the sun, hehe). ...  

But will it take the time? Is it a pleasure to look at such a (beautiful) dial day after day? My experience of PP 5131 suggest that the beauty of an extraordinary dial is vaporising and a "standard" takes time in a more sustainable way. Best, Kari

those two models. This V&C ref reminded me for Saint-Exupérys 'Night Filght' - have you read it? It's definitly not for any occation, but the style would last, it's style - not kitsch or steam punk like seen often nowadays.

I own a few Metiers pieces with these hands and they are elegant and not flat. They are open so as to allow more of the intricate hand done "art" to be seen. The size wears well even at 40mm because it is a fairly thin watch. Beautiful strap also. I will ... 

..I was talking about the style of the hands and the index ring (simple-reduced-modern) in context to the style of the dial (very prosaic). Not about the brand, I would regard Vacheron a luxury watch maker - if not even the king of luxury watch makers, ot...
