UN Hourstriker - Movement Questions....

Hi,

I was wondering if one of m fellow forumers had any knowledge about the development and design of the UN Hourstriker movement.

I know that this is an integrated design, and that UN utilizes a 2893 base (albeit highly reworked and finished from what I can see of the display back of the current 42mm production). I was wondering if anyone has any insight into who makes the module, Claret? Does UN complete the manufacture of combining the striking module with the ETA or is this completed by contract from an outside firm?

From examining three examples at my AD this week, I must say that the consistency of tone, quiet springs, and overall symetry is just fantastic. I was totally impressed by all three pieces, in three different metals and two sizes. I was able to compare a YG Solid Back 40mm, RG 40mm with display back and a 42mm RG w/ displa back. I personally liked the solid back YG version the best - the tone was slightly more musical, deeper and resonant.

I am truly impressed by the quality of this watch and being able to understand a little more about the "engine" inside would add to this pleasure.

Thanks in advance for your assistance!

Best regards,

asg
