Does anyone remember balsa wood rubber band planes from their youth?

Well technology has come a long ways since 1960, and my latest toy arrived yesterday after a 30 month wait--a beta version of battery powered, <3 oz, RC plane controlled by an iPhone app. Still learning to fly with most of my training flights ending in crashes, but foam is durable and it came with replacement props and rudders. Eventually I hope to teach my grand kids how to dogfight with the next iteration that will include VR googles so that you fly as if on board. In a few days I will post a video of learning curve once I progress past the hover helicopter mode.

I'd suggest practicing on one of the free sims and then taking to the air, they usually give you a varied amount of aircraft so you can experience the effects on small vs large aircraft, gliders, props, jet engines etc.

Yes indeed, I had these as a young boy growing up on the East Coast.

They were fun to make, you had to be careful to not damage or split any of the pieces. But they were very enjoyable as I recall. I look forward to hearing how you like this new one. These could be great presents for little ones

Definitely....

looking forward to reading what your experience with it is like! Haven't tried the modern ones myself either. Cheers, Filip
