Cactus with High Aspirations
We walked in a cactus garden after visiting the San Diego Automotive Museum, and I noticed a strange thing about the cacti:
Most of them seem to be reaching for the sky, or raising their hands as if in a press conference: "Take my question!" or "Pick me!"

You might even say they were "reaching for the moon"
Many were in bloom, as fall is their growing season.

Even the flowers were vertical.
New shoots.
We did spot one exception: Sadly, this large, old, tired possum had laid down for the last time under a canopy of prickly pear paddles.
I reported his demise to a ranger who said he would notify the proper person.

We climbed some steps which obviously dated back a generation or two of building technology,

and found ourselves in a building that's never been open to the public in 100 years...

Here is its story:

Famished, we went home and I made a pizza.
Sorry there isn't enough for everyone.
Thanks for walking with us.
