Clean and classic IMO...
I really like the design. It's timeless and epitomizes the essence of the classic Carreras. I was thinking this model was 39mm which, for me, would make it a bit more formidable.
In any case, it's got a solid movement. The Calibre 17 I believe is a beefed up version of the ETA-2894-2 that originated from the ETA-2892. In terms of accuracy, you can pay more, but you won't get any "better."
As for TAG Heuer, I'm a bit biased towards the brand and have a VERY differing opinion from Fla25. First, I believe TAG Heuer is hitting on all cylinders. As a brand, I believe they're quite strong. Personally, I am the biggest fan of the Heuer 01 (perhaps that's why I have three H01s with at least two more on the wish list...budget permitting).
The brand has done an exceptional job of reinterpreting their classics including the Autavia, Monaco and Monza (even Skipper!) while simultaneously moving the brand forward with such pieces as the Heuer 01 and 02t. To produce an in-house, column wheel chronograph and tourbillon at the price point of these two models is in itself, quite an accomplishment.
Bottom line, there is no question that this is a quality piece that will perhaps outlive you and me. Solid construction and timeless design at a more-than-reasonable price point. You said this is your "first watch." That's a helluva starting point and looking back at my first, perhaps I'm just a bit jealous. You'll have a great start and I hope you'll post photos and share your impressions of this piece. Enjoy and wear it in great health!
Best,
Todd
