Walking with a Seiko 1520

What's a 1520? Don't care right now -- look at that sky!

These might be boring you, but let's have just one more

OK, here is a Seiko 1520 (I think that's Seiko shorthand for "Visbility? What visibility!"

We walked around a 27-acre complex today, called Hickman Field. You can look it up if you want to but basically it's an area owned by the US Govt military dedicated to sports, and named after a Navy pilot who rode his plane down into the adjacent canyon rather than eject and have it hit an adjacent elementary school. I was in 3rd grade (at a different school) when it happened. Our community was heavily Navy, and my father was a Navy pilot who died when his plane crashed, so the story resonates with me. I knew vaguely what it was about but had never been there.

My wife was a PE teacher and coach for 35 years in this city and she'd never been there either. Notice the sky has brightened considerably.

Most of the playing fields were in pristine shape, enjoying a few months off during this COVID time. Several (like this one) had been reseeded and looked beautful.

Others were waiting their turns for attention.

Speaking of waiting, our time was almost up. Too bad, because I really wanted to hotwire this Turf Tiger and take it for a spin.

The skies kept changing overhead...

looking down from the sky you would have seen this:

while we on the ground trudged through what seemed like a half-mile of fresh gravel.

under high clouds

and across designer pavements.

Over hills and under dales

we arrived at the hospital just in time.

For the doctor to tell me "I don't want to see you again, You are fine as far as my specialty is concerned." Hooray. Then we went off to another wing where they cheerfully extracted some vital fluids and sent me home.

Here's the 1520, which looks a lot like a certain famous JLC movement.

Have a bright day, and wear your Seiko.

Beautiful photos and touching story, the watch is great too! There's something special about growing up in tightly knit communities such as the military. What a striking watch design too, reminds me of Tron or Cyclops!

Thank you

And above all glad the doc sent you home with the message that he doesn’t need to see you again.

Great story

But the movement looks familiar.
