Just received the SARB017 Alpinist direct from a Seiko AD in Japan. These can still be had brand new (with a nice discount!) even though they were discontinued months ago. Excuse the dust on the dial. As a side note the serial on this one is 850008 which ...

Go for it now if you're thinking of another one. Or you can wait and see if Seiko releases a new Alpinist this year. They usually don't announce half of the watches they're going to release. They just drop them on us!

The first digit is the year but

you have to know in general what years the watch was in production. For example, 8 means 2018 not 1998 or 1988 as the Alpinist reference wasn't in production back then. The next digit or letter is the month. 1-9 translates to January - September. October,...
