After owning it for 1 month, my RM004 developed some problems:
1. Chronograph second and chronograph split hand would not come back
together exactly. The tip of the white arrow (chrono seconds) should be lined
up perfectly with the tip of the red arrow (split) when the split pusher is
activated to bring them together.
2. When the chrono is reset, the minute counter should reset to 0 minutes,
but it would often reset to the first marker that indicates 1 minute.
3. The split pusher eventually stopped working at all. Basically, I could see
the column wheel for the split moving, but not far enough to advance it
sufficiently.
4. Sometimes I've observed the split second and the chrono second
splitting, even though I hadn't yet activated the split pusher. A few
seconds after spontaneously splitting, it would come back together
on its own.
My impression is that these are not major flaws, but rather minor problems
with adjustment. I'm hoping that once it is properly adjusted that the
watch won't work its way out of adjustment in 1 month. If it does work
its way out of adjustment again, I'll have to suspect major design flaw(s).
Anyway, I'm wondering whether anyone has had similar problems with
their RM004-V2.
This last weekend, I heard a horror story about someone with a RM004-V1
that Richard Mille tried several times to fix, before giving up and finally
giving the guy a whole new movement. I'm hoping they have worked out
all those problems. I do know that RM004-V2 was not just a change of
the baseplate. If you compare photos of RM004-V1 and RM004-V2, you
can clearly see there were major changes to the design of the split
mechanism, but I can't tell exactly what from the photos.
