First public information on the RM 009
Hello guys,
Well, as promised, here is information on the RM 009 that anyone outside the industry has ever seen: you are the very first the get a look:

The movement baseplate is made of aluminum lithium, and the case is composed of Alusic or Aluminum Silicon Carbide (AlSiC) a fairly new alloy made of aluminum with silicon carbide atoms dispersed through the aluminum matrix, achieved through gas pressure 'infiltration'. As I have understood this new process, a sort of magma is made and the carbide particles are more or less injected into it under pressure for dispersal throught the liquid metal. I will have more to describe once all the technical information comes in. It seems presently to be used only by the Space industry.

The goal is a tourbillon wristwatch with a total weight of 30 grams, but this is only the goal. It is still under construction, so this is not definitve. I hope to see the first one in about 10 days, and you can be sure there will be more info forthcoming.
Hope you all enjoy this premiere!
Cheers,
TheodoreD
