I love that! Yes, I would be amused to learn if other male PuristS are tasked with all upkeep and maintenance of any mechanical watches owned by their women. I love mechanical watches, and naturally think quartz is not quite as intriguing in general, but I think women like me are in the minority. In truth, I think most women want something that looks pretty, fashionable, and is preferably bejeweled in some way. There's nothing wrong with that concept, of course! 
Now, knowing that you tend to your wife's watch each day, my feeling is that perhaps a thoughtful husband is the best accessory a girl can ask for.
