An informative and fun watch event

Oct 25, 2021,14:03 PM

was co-sponsored by Piaget and Gentry Club (K11 Musea, THE new shopping that combines high end shopping & dinning with promotion of art, culture and design under one roof).

Vanessa, head of elite clients at K11 introducing the event

Marc Menant (Brand and Customer Experience Manager in Asia) explaining the history of Piaget

Fascinating history on Piaget: In 1874 farmer Georges-Edouard Piaget set up workshop on his family farm in La Côte-aux-Fées, a very small village in the Swiss Jura mountains.  His entire family (wife and 14 children, 7 boys and 7 girls 😳 Husband and wife were busy all the time !!! ) worked on producing movements.  The rest was history as it evolved from movement production for brands to making watches under the Piaget name along with its eventual tie-up to Richemont.  It is known for its thin movements throughout the 20thcentury.

Little side story: La Côte-aux-Fées literally translates into “the coast of fairies”. Though, originally, fees was not written Fées but Faye (pronounced the same way than Fées), meaning “ship”.

Altiplano Ultimate Concept , G0A45500, Thinnest mechanical watch at 2mm thick, 41mm case made in M64BC super alloy (cobalt-based alloy) with black PVD coating with fusion of case and movement, 4 hz, hand wound, 28’800 alt, 45 hour power-reserve, 167 components and 13 rubies

Agree with Nicolas I am amazed by the thinness but the dial size is too big they should make it smaller like between 35 and 37 would be perfect. I am wondering how fragile they are given the thin element of them. The sport pieces however look too close to...

Thanks for these neat shots Gordon, I always considered Piaget a top brand when it comes to their most elegant, ultra thin production....and this recent 2mm Altipiano Concept is indeed a true mechanical marvel! ;-)
