Patek Philippe

Some answers

Hi,

i've never seen this piece myself but here is what I think.

At 34mm it is a medium sized Calatrava, but somewhat among the large ones in historical pieces.

34mm is still wearable IMO, specially for a vintage piece.

The watch is fitted with calibre 12-400, launched in 1958 like the watch reference. This is a traditional Patek Philippe hand wound calibre, and top notch by its technical specifications: it is equipped with a shock absorber and a self-compensating Breguet overcoil spring. it is somewhat a large calibre at 26,75mm, larger than the current 2&,9mm calibre 215. Cal 12-400 is easily a dream calibre for traditionalists!

The watch reference 3418 is supposedly water resistant, what is an interesting feature for such an old watch, even if I would not put it voluntarily underwater for obvious age reasons.

I can't answer your other questions, for lack of knowledge, but find this watch interesting.

Cheers

Dje
