Review 5968A
After two weeks of ownership with this steel Aquanaut chronograph I am pleasantly surprised with my first PP. Here are my impressions:
- Case: Even though it is a larger case it does not wear like it at all on the wrist due to lugs and strap. Compared to the blue 5968G that I was able to handle I have the impression that the lesser weight is a big advantage combined with the aquanaut strap. No scratch magnet yet although I have read a lot about it....
- Dial: very easy to read with a nice grayish to black surface; orange hands give it a nice sporty appearance; excellent lume; even the date window is surprisingly well integrated without too much disturbance of the dial
- Accuracy: watch runs perfectly with nearly no deviation
- Flyback chronograph: pushers need some power to start, stop and reset but give an overall solid feedback when being used
- Crown: nice tactile feeling when using it; my only real issue is that it takes so much rotation of the crown (and time) to move the hands for 24 hours to set the watch (different to all other watches I do have)
- Quick adjustment of the date: works well but I switched from the original metal pin to a plastic one in order not to scratch the little pusher
- Strap: very comfortable to wear - not too sweaty even in hot climate; I wonder whether I will ever use the black strap as the orange is so vibrant...
- Clasp: it is ok but I prefer the solution from Rolex with their rubber straps tbh
I would be interested to hear from others Aquanaut owners how they feel about my two minor issues (much rotation needed to set the time, clasp solution).
Altogether very happy to have added this one to my assortment of watches and I guess I will go for another Aquanaut in the near future...
