Bigger is better- to a point
Jul 21, 2021,00:22 AM
I might be one of the few folks around that prefers a bigger watch. I’m 6’4 and really the 42mm aquanauts- which I have a few (5968, 5168) wear just perfectly for me.
I just picked up a 5270j and I will tell you it’s been a grail watch for me forever. However if it was 40mm I would not buy it. While I love 42mm, 41 works also but for me personally any smaller is a no go. I sold a 5980 (before the price craze) cause it felt too small.
The point is- as others have stated, you need to wear it and try it on. I haven’t gotten a ton of wrist time with my 5270 yet but I will tell you it’s stunning! Beyond stunning! But it may be too big, it may not. Try one on and proceed accordingly. Good luck.

Patek PCC advice needed.

Hi. I’ve always been a fan of the Patek perpetual calendars. Back when the 5970 was around, it was a dream watch - 40mm perfect symmetry. But alas I was poor. Then came the 5270 and I tried it on years ago, and now I’m in a position to purchase one 5270j ...
3970

Go look at a 3970. Certainly you cannot buy them new from an AD any longer, but they are available. Try one on and see what you think. The 3970 is a 36mm watch, and they are perfectly sized for daily wear. Of course, if you are determined to buy a new, mo...
I love the 5270

but at 41mm it is too large for my wrist. The 5270R I loved for a long time due to the vintage patina on the dial. There is a difference between the 5970 and 5270 not just by one millimeter but also the lugs. I would definitely suggest that you try on a 5...
My humble opinion….

You absolutely have to try the watch on your own wrist and let it work! It is a big investment, and you should really enjoy your new acquisition. Wearing comfort is essential to be able to enjoy a watch for many years (decades). All the best for your jour...
Thank you all.

What great advice just over the last 24 hours. Sounds like I need to try it on the wrist for sure! I do wish to continue a good relationship with my AD.
