Patek Philippe

Aesthetically speaking, my favorite design from PP, by a long margin. Apparently I'm in the minority here, but that's OK - it's meant that secondary market pricing is quite reasonable. ;-D I particularly like the way the curved case drapes over the wrist ...  

...much-loved (at least by me) watch. It is classy, elegant, and a perfect size. I am a big fan of cases other than round and this certainly fits. PP had the good sense to modify a 215 movement to fit the case shape instead of just dropping in a round mov... 

I have a weakness for shaped cases (Reversos, Drive de Cartier, Santos, GO Karree, Lange Cabaret, GP Vintage, Octo Finissimo 1945, etc.), and this one pushes all the right buttons. I really want shaped movements in shaped cases, too, and a wedged-in-with-...

I too love this reference and the guilloche dial is breathtaking. Collectors tend to be partial to round case shapes leaving the other shapes amazing bargains by comparison. I salute you for buying what you love and not what the market favours!

This watch definitely has a lot of character. I was once told that "Gondolo" refers to a South American dealer of Patek, not any reference to Venice, etc.

However, while you can easily buy a Gondolo in Venice (a friend has an AD just around the corner from piazza San Marco), normally you can’t buy a gondola, or at least it will be more difficult to carry home...strange facts of life!😎
