Although you are probably right 99.5% of the time, someone on another forum recently posted photos of what looked by all accounts like a genuine Patek ref. 3417 that he had purchased for $2. Good thing for him that he didn't know your rule about watches under $20! ;-)

Ive seen a patek philippe that has the year and month below the 12 oclock position and just above the patek philippe name. It literally has the year for example it says 2009 , and Jan for the month. Is this a watch that they made? Cause I cant find it on ...

If it doesn't cost about US$100K+ it is 99.999999999999% a fake. Similarly, any future Pateks you see for less than $20 are fake. No need to post pictures or sift through any catalogues. The world is just not such a good place, with bargains lying around ...
Under 20k?
Although I agree to most of your post, we should not make believe people that any PP costs more than 20k. It's just not true. There are lots of vintage Pateks for way under 20k! Just check recent catalogues of Ch..ies or S..by's - or even A....rum - you w...
