It seems that no-one can answer the question about Geneva Seals......?
But with vintage Pateks......I can't seem to find a source of accurate information to help in the restoration of pieces... or aid the ability of 'fans' to recognise authentic restorations against 'abused' examples?
For instance...when I was searching for Ref 1491 Calatravas......I noticed that almost all the 'backs' of the cases were polished?
The one I bought though.....had circular linishing
When I enquired about this...the Seller (a PP AD in Los Angeles)....told me they had done research which indicated that the backs were NOT polished,,,,,but 'engine turned'?
I saw images of a Ref 1491 which still had the 'Gold Mark' stamping on the back indicating that it hadn't been polished out.......and it did indeed have 'linishing' on the back.....but straight linishing (much like the Ref 3919)....not concentric.
This type of information is invaluable.....and I would have hoped that Patek Philippe should have it in their Archival Data?
Another anomaly or quirk if you like......is that some of the Ref 1491 samples I saw... had winders with the Patek emblem embossed....whilst most others were plain?

I can see why you love it more than the 3919. There is something about the appearance of the vintage watches that the modern pieces just don't seem to have. Big difference from a submariner!! Congratulations on your latest edition!

1491 is a great choice but be afraid, there is a whole new world of vintage

Geneva Seal
One question I hope someone may be able to help with? When I was searching for a 1491.....I looked at photos of the movement of a dozen prospective watches. None had the Geneva Seals except the one I bought..... Considering that all the watches I looked a...
I saw some 27SC movements
And none of them had the Geneva Seals. So it's puzzling to see yours has them and so does mine........? Hopefully someone will shed some light? I didn't realise that you also had a Ref 1491? It would be nice to see some shots? :-)
A fine watch...
It looks beautiful watch-guy.....and the dial looks like it might be original? I particularly like this model with the sweep 'seconds' hand in 'blue'..... Hard to find these in such great condition. Congratulations and wear it in health...
