I would agree with the majority.............
Of what your link has stated, except for:
1) The time should be set to about 6am
2) Before setting the final time set the moonphase. Please note that the moonphase starts its own setting between 5pm - 7.30pm
3) Can't help you with which button sets which function, but if you set the time to 6am first you can then play around with the different buttons without causing the movement/watch any problems.
When I first had my AC/PC I was also worried that I would cock it up by playing around with the different buttons,but once I had learnt to set the time well clear of the watches natural date/day settings time, I became a lot more confident in setting the different functions
