I would agree with others, the moonphase has
been the single factor that probably affected the popularity of the 5035. It looks a lot like a perpetual at about half the cost and think that may have been the thought of many others given its success.
But, it was the 5035 that made such an impact when it was launched and was named watch of the year. I think it represents an excellent value for what it is. You could do far worse with other references.
Having a collection consisting of annuals as they evolved would be, I think, something to consider.

Hi there, It seems that second hand Patek Philippe 5035 Annual Calendar watches sell for around 20-30% less compared to other Patek annual calendars (on a like for like basis for case metal, condition etc). I appreciate the 5035 may not be a current model...
Maybe the absence of Moonphases display...
But who really cares? If you like the watch, go ahead! Some find its dial more balanced than several other Annual Calendars from Patek... Fx

The 5035 does not have moonphase. Still, the 5035R was used as a daily 'beater' for years here and is a great timepiece. Love the clean dial layout too.

hi everyone, thank you for your comments - yes, it does appear that a moon phase is the obvious reason (I was worried it might be that the 5035 had an "inferior" or hard to service movement)
